The Muddler is hands down the best spot for sushi in Newcastle! The atmosphere is stylish and vibrant, with a great mix of elegance and comfort. The staff was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The sushi was absolutely outstanding—fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every bite was perfection, from the classic rolls to the more creative options. The cocktails were equally impressive, expertly crafted and a perfect complement to the meal. If you’re a sushi lover or just looking for an exceptional dining experience, The Muddler is a must-visit. Can’t wait to go back!

What a lovely place! Not only is the atmosphere and presentation of the outside and inside really beautiful but the service food and staff were great too. I had the belly pork and Thai green curry and both were spectacular in flavour and presentation. I honestly recommend you try this place out. It cost for 2 85 but that was 3 starters/small plates and 2 large plates/mains. 2 cokes and 2 double gin and tonics. In my opinion it was worth it.

Dropped in pre theatre with no reservation (on a Friday night) staff were accommodating and friendly, which always makes for a good start to the dining experience. Maitre d' was a delight! We will return as we were rushing for the start of our show, which was a shame as the food was delicious, ambiance wonderful (cosy, background music didn't overpower conversation, subdued lighting- but I could still see the menu!). The mixologist at the bar creates drinkable art and every single server was attentive and personable. More places like this In Newcastle please. Book to avoid disappointment. Thank you for a lovely start to our evening.

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The staff were super attentive, they even surprised us with Prosecco and cake for our anniversary! The food was incredible, the sharing platters are so worth it. I will recommend to everyone!

Attended a midweek restaurant menu. Service was great, we went to the wrong side but they were happy to walk us over and show us to our table. Sever asked if we had any dietary restrictions/ allergies which is always really great to hear! My only note is that the ‘small’ plates are actually quite a reasonable portion size. We ordered too much food! We opted for the teriyaki salmon, katsu chicken, squid, duck spring rolls and the chicken yakitori and the fried rice from the 3 small plates a side for 25. From this I highly recommend the salmon and the duck spring rolls, but everything else was enjoyable. I also ordered the 15 sushi which was really tasty and well presented. This was the California and the Diamond Jubilee. For further recommendations I’d advise ordering the 2-four piece sushi for 15 and the 3 small plates side for 25 if you are a table of 2, this would be a reasonable portion and price. Would recommend to a friend and will most likely revisit. The toilets are down a steep set of stairs so this should be noted for accessibility. I gave four stars for atmosphere as I just felt the music was too quiet and I could hear a lot of the conversation from the other table.

Went to Newcastle for a small business trip and had dinner at this place with my manager. Had many recommendations of this place, was my first time here. Tried Mapo prawn, which was just delicious. It’s sweet and salty stew with prawns, simple but super tasty. Loved it, will love to return and try something different next time, which I am sure will be equally delicious.

Very warm welcome and helpful staff followed by great food. We had a dimsum plater and 6 small plates between 3. probably to much food but had great variety to get good sample of the menu. Everything was very well presented and tasted great
